Ellen Curry

An esteemed leader of the community, Ellen Curry (1929-1996) championed the extension and strengthening of educational programs like Head Start, youth centers, and other social services for those who lived in public housing.  She served a remarkable 29 years on the Housing Authority Board and was one of the first African American pioneers to run for public office.  Ms. Curry has a scholarship named in her honor by the Erie Housing Authority.
